Was a sad day...

I sold off my Summit48 switch the other day, sad to see it go...anyway I haven't powered on any of my switches in probably 3 months or so. It's pretty ridiculous how infrequently I use them, but given how loud they are not surprising.

I've been playing pokemon on my U3 lately which has been pretty fun, I think I might start playing it on my DS more as well.

Login strangeness

Well I just tried logging in on opera 10 on my Japanese XP on the U3 and it was having some weird issues...would not let me log in.

Anyway, today is pretty gross. It was decently night although a bit dark when I left my house but now that I'm out it's drizzling and has gotten quite dark which sucks because I didn't bring my umbrella as it was rather nice when I left.

I mentioned my U3 above and yes, I have purchased a Sony VAIO PCG-U3 which is pretty awesome. It's got the stock 20GB ancient 1.8" drive which needs to be replaced for speed reasons but other than that it works very well as I have the maximum 512MB allowed.

A month later...

I finally sent the switch back.  I also ordered a G9 from amazon and sent the rebate in as well.

For the past few days I've been messing around with my new phone which is a Samsung sch-i760.  It's got windows mobile 6 which I could upgrade to 6.1 but decided not to at least for now.  I posted some screencaps off it on my wakaba.

Took the TV back into the other room and run my stuff through Immolator.

Increased Sadness

Switch is dead so it's going back...waiting for the seller to respond.

My ear randomly hurt just now

It was throbbing and kind of painful, argh!  not sure ...

Anyway I got my 5 female 2xRCA to stereo 1/8" male adapters today whoo!!  I should be getting a cisco switch via UPS as well, go me! it's a 48 port 3500 series, forgot which one specifically.

Consoles

I bought a game cube with a game boy player off ebay last week.  I got it yesterday and it's missing the boot up disc so I ordered it from nintendo, glad they were selling them :)  After I hit the BIN on the GC I also BO'd a psone and a few games for the GC.  Been needing a psone for a while now since I have some games I just used on emulators but I like having actual hardware you know.  I hooked up the GC to our old 'gaming' tv that's got a green screen button which is pretty snazzy.  Anyway the blogger add URL thing sucks because it keeps extending the link onto new text...what a fail.  I started playing pokémon when this term started which is why I bought the game cube to begin with, figured I might get that game boy player instead of replacing my lost pocket, color and advance wherever they may be T_T.  I still hope I find those things but...at least I can play the games.

And once again...

Been quite a while...some additions have been made, now have a Challenge S so I have 3 "indy" chassis and another Indigo2 as well, this one has more ram but otherwise isn't as great.  It came with an old beige SGI alps keyboard so I was actually really happy with the purchase, cost me about $30 total which was amazing considering how heavy they are.

Started collecting old macs as well, originally got a Centris 660AV and have 36MB in it now, run it with an external 9GB sun drive which is excellent.  I finally bought some caddies for the cd-rom and installed 8.0 then updated to 8.1, networking works a lot better in it than 7.5, at least it lets me use my supernetted network.  My performa 630 I bought for shipping works great too, stuck in an old 17GB maxtor drive and it runs nicely even for only having 16MB ram, has a normal cd-rom which is nice but does not have ethernet so no fun mac networking for now.

I've ventured into Sun's territory as well, don't have a keyboard or mouse but I have a sparcstation20 in my inventory, my friend said it's a 75MHz SuperSparc II so I'll be able to load up the copy of NextStep that I have, AWESOME.  I really can't wait, he loves running it on his so I really want to load it up.

One thing that was really fun /sarcasm/ was pulling out my electronics rack from the garage and cleaning it out.  Turned out that the fascia on it was too close to the mounts so I had to rip one of the sides off in order to stick any gear in it, how goofy is that.  Loaded up my Extreme switches in it (1, 48, 4, 48i in order) then recently got an HP 4000m and put that in the bottom so it is entirely filled up now, have to get a real rack sometime as they run quite hot since it's meant for front-back air flow and not side-to-side like the extremes are set up for.  I'm good for quite a bit of expansion now, having 192 copper ports on that rack and all haha. :D

Been a while...again

The class I'm in now is about cisco routers and stuff, pretty nice to learn about how to use them. The configuration files are pretty easy and make setting up a bunch of routers a breeze.

Anyway I've spent entirely way too much money recently. An SGI Indy as well as Indigo2 are now mine...as well as 3 external scsi hard drives, a scsi SGI cd-rom and sony firewire cd burner. Not only that, but 17 hard drives are coming my way and a quadro 2 for my Itanic. Oh yeah! I bought the agp board for the Itanic, $60 oh yes...anyway should be cool once I can use that as my main. Ahh but not least I got 2 36GB 15k drives for the Itanic. It is truly going to be awesome once I get it up and running. If the OS on vis and jane weren't extremely customized I would move those drives into it lol. Anyway seems the drives are going to be about $80 and it was about $130 for the other crap then $60 for the board like I said and ~$22 for the quadro2. yeah...too much lol. Oh, I forgot I got an extreme networks Summit1, forgot how much that was...not much I don't think (under 40). Anyway nice to have a fibre switch, just got to get some gigabit cards and some cables. (SC-SC)

sigh..haha, I need help please!!! lol

On a fun note I tried using my monochrome Miracle 9" monitor with my C1 and it was great, after I tooled around with my xorg.conf for a while I got 800x600 running and had the webcam going too, was quite fun.

First class back...

So today was the first class back from break and...the cpu fan on my laptop goes on the fritz! It started making all these crazy noises; it scared the crap out of me and so I turned it off right then. Anyway, I haven't ordered a replacement yet, they want $70!! insane!! augh...what a wonderful thing to happen.

Aww a sad project

IBM's out of those $700 Power 275s, oh well :P I keep missing out on these deals hahaha, anyway.
