New system

Well 2 or 3 years after I got this Ultra 20 I really need a new box to use as my main so I've finally given in to my dual socket desire and started a new build. I kind of want to be able to play games on it which is why I want a pretty good graphics card but that's not my main focus. Later on I will upgrade the CPU to something faster (probably the 2.4) but depends on if/when bulldozer comes out and the pricing on that.

It's comprised of:
ASUS KGPE-D16 Dual G34 motherboard (Asus's website is awful)
1x Thermaltake CLS0017 G34 cooler (I'll probably come up with a bigger/quieter one eventually)
1x AMD Opteron 6128 8x2.0GHz G34 processor
8x SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM (one of them is currently in sunbox but will be transplanted once I get my raid controller)

and for what I have in line to be purchased still:
2x Kingston 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Registered
XFX HD-577X-ZMF3 single slot HD5770 card. I'm really stoked I found an awesome single slot card.
SeaSonic X750 Gold 750 Watt power supply (has the necessary 2x12V EPS connectors.
CHENBRO SR10769-BK-T server tower case (one of the awesome long ones with tons of space)
CHENBRO 84H210710-073 Hotswap HDD Cage (each holds 4 drives)
CHENBRO SK33502-BK-H 5x3.5" hot swap cage.
areca ARC-1880ix-16 SAS/SATA raid controller (this one is a beast)
areca ARC-6120 backup battery (if it works with the 1880 and if not the new one)

Almost finished

This is my last term at school!  Can't wait to finish but I need to start applying for more jobs haha, I haven't done that in a while >_>;  I've been working at a place here as an internship and been doing a lot of work including rewiring 3 patch panels to switches and finding a network loop which was interesting.  I think they should get switches with spanning tree but you know...dumb switches are cheap.

Anyway I said in my previous post about playing more DS well I looked at my Pokémon Pearl today and the last entry was from november.  Since we got a Wii in december (for Xmas) I'm not really surprised but had a lot of dec before then, I think it was because of the class I was in that I didn't play it during that time like I had before. :P

Speaking of Xmas, I got a Sony Vaio P hard drive version.  It's pretty sweet, the bright screen is great but the high resolution is still kind of wow...

I got some music discs recently which are pretty good, Slick Shoes' self titled disc which has alone from their music video which is killer as well as 2 other songs which are my favourites on it in addition to that one.  Also got Embodyment's "Hold Your Breath" which is some great chill-out rock music, most of the songs are good but there's one I really don't care for (binge & purge).

The best one is Living Sacrifice's "The Infinite Order" which is just awesome, no more repetitive discs of brutal metal, this one has tracks which all sound different which is definitely a departure considering most bands these days.  It starts out super fast then slows down right after that haha, I wish it would keep the pace up but whatever it's still good.
